Mike The Guide

2008 Vacation July-August-2008

Chad & Michelle,

Thanks for the great trip (July 26, 2008 – August 2, 2008). It was memorable and I’m sure my son Hunter and I will be up for repeat visits in the coming years. During our trip we fished Wilkinson, Tyrol, Northwind, Onaman, and another that I forget. Our first day on Wilkinson was slow so we hired Mike as a guide for the second day. Mike brought us out to Onaman and we filled out our limit of walleye in under an hour. We had a 25″ walleye for each license in the boat and had to throw some really big boys back in. Hiring Mike was well worth it and was our best day of fishing even though I fell on my butt in the mud on the way out to Onaman, split my pants open pushing the boat off when we launched, and forgot sunscreen on the sunniest day of the week. None of that matters when you are catching nice fish.

Attached are photos of my son Hunter with one of his Onaman walleye and our guide Mike holding one of his. The other photo is of Hunter with a stringer of Northern, Perch and Walleye from Northwind.

Next time I’ll get a GPS with local maps before I come up and will know to leave my tackle box behind in favor of keeping it simple with a jig and a minnow.
